Paul Capriolo is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County campus, and the Catholic Universty of America, Columbus School of Law, located in Washington, D.C.
After completing law school, Paul Capriolo worked for a year in the defense industry as a contracts administrator for the Westinghouse Defense Company, now the Northrop Grumman Company.
In 1985, Paul Capriolo opened his private law practice. His first office was located in Baltimore City and he first practiced mostly in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. He soon relocated his practice to his home county of Carroll County, Maryland. Over the years, Paul Capriolo concentrated his practice primarily in the field of family law, including the negotiation and preparation of separation agreements , and handling all aspects of divorce, child custody and support, visitation, alimony, and the division of marital property.
In addition to his family law practice, Paul Capriolo practices extensively in the area of criminal law, including defending people charges with all felonies and misdemeanors and DUI/DWI defense, wills and estate planning and estate administration, and serious personal injuries resulting from automobile accidents.
Paul Capriolo has also taught in the legal field, having been an Adjunct Professor at Towson University for 6 years and at the Community College of Baltimore City for 2 years.
Not only a litigator, Paul Capriolo has received extensive training as a mediator and has successfully mediated hundreds of cases in the family law field. He serves both as a private mediator and as a mediator appointed by the Circuit Court for Carroll County, Maryland. As a private mediator, Paul Capriolo generally meets with parties prior to any litigation being commenced and assists parties is resolving their dispute without court intervention. As a Court appointed mediator for the Carroll County Circuit Court, he mediates cases sent to him pursuant to Court Order and can help parties settle their case before the litigation becomes prolonged.
The Circuit Court for Carroll County, Maryland also has appointed Paul Capriolo to serve as a Settlement Officer for family law cases, a position that requires extensive knowledge of the law and of likely outcomes in contested cases. He uses his knowledge and experience to help parties settle their cases amicably and without further litigation.
